Into some stories

I have always gone in cycles with reading. When I was in school, I read what was required and had no time to read for pleasure. That was what I looked forward to the most when college graduation loomed...I would finally regain my free reading time! As my hobbies have changed and evolved, my free time spent reading has changed also. I have almost always had something to read..for a while it seemed all I read were magazines, then I went on a tear where I had to read all of Jane Austen's novels. Then I was into more spiritual reading and heavy fiction. And now with homeschooling, I am reading everything that will help me do the best I can to teach and learn with my kids.

But also lately, I have gotten into a major flow of reading fiction. I started out reading Marta Perry's Pleasant Valley Amish Series (go here for the list of books). Then as I was waiting for book three to arrive at the library, I stumbled upon another book that I felt I had to read...a sequel to Pride and Prejudice called Mr. Darcy's Little Sister. I got so into that book, that I let out a gasp when it was finished! (I was fooled, see. You know how on the last page of most books, the text ends kind of far up on the page so you have warning that you're almost done? Well, the text on the last page of this book went all the way to the bottom, leading me to think there was just a bit more....)

And while all of this is going on, hubby and I rented Christy from Netflix and kept the discs coming until we had watched them all. And I'm not exaggerating a bit when I say I was not only sad when we had watched the final episode, but at the outcome! And I made the mistake of going online to look up some more details about it and discovered how the book ends as well, and that's sitting on my night stand just begging to be opened. Even though I now know how it ends, I simply must read it. (And frankly, I'm planning to rewrite the ending, even if it's just for me!) And I have to be honest and say that I developed quite a fondness for Rev. David Grantland in the series. (We're planning to rent the movies that were made later to tie up the whole series. I don't have a lot of hope for them because most of the main cast will be different but dang, I just have to see how it was done. But I just don't see it without Kellie Martin and Randall Batinkoff!!)

I'm really enjoying losing myself in these stories. I know it won't last forever and I'll find myself in another place with reading someday, but I am just loving this right now.

Just For Fun
